Elon Musk shares impressive drone images showing progress at Tesla Gigafactory Berlin

Elon Musk has released some impressive drone images showing the progress Tesla made at Gigafactory Berlin.

There is now a giant structure that will soon house the production of the Model Y.

Tesla Gigafactory Berlin

Tesla’s Gigafactory Berlin is arguably the automaker’s most important project in 2021.

The company is not launching the Model Y in Europe until the vehicle is produced at the new plant.

In addition to launching the Model Y on the important market, Gigafactory Berlin will also produce 4680 battery cells and will be the first production vehicle to use Tesla’s new structural battery architecture.

So there are a lot of eyes on Tesla keeping its schedule to start production at Gigafactory Shanghai.

Tesla wrote about Gigafactory Berlin in his letter to shareholders last week:

Local production and deliveries remain a fundamental part of our growth strategy. While our total market share in Europe increased in 2020, Gigafactory Berlin is expected to allow a significant increase in local deliveries, similar to what we saw after the construction of Gigafactory Shanghai. The construction of our factory in Berlin continues as planned and we have already started moving the machines to the building.

The automaker only guides the start of production “until the end of the year”, but there are indications in the documents filed with the project with the government that production may start as early as July.

Production will begin with Model Y, but Tesla is also expected to produce Model 3 and other vehicles at the plant.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has some impressive drone images from the Gigafactory Berlin construction site:

This will be the last thing Musk will share on Twitter for a while, as the CEO said he is taking a break from the platform.

The video shows some progress with now a huge main building being completed, as Tesla is already moving equipment inside and additional structures appearing alongside the main structure.
