This month, Page made history as the first openly trans man to appear on the cover of Time magazine. In the new interview, Page talks about his transition and childhood memories of feeling uncomfortable in his body. In addition, the page opens about the return to the set of The Umbrella Academy.
When Page first learned about Vanya’s character, he immediately identified himself with her because of how distant she was from the rest of the world.
“I told you how closed Vanya was,” Page says Time.
In just two seasons, viewers have already seen great growth in Vanya. After her suppressed powers took over and ended up causing the apocalypse in Season 1, Vanya is able to find her voice and control her powers in Season 2. As a result, Vanya transforms from a character crushed by self-loathing to someone with more self-confidence than ever.

Similarly, The Umbrella Academy co-workers have seen a huge change in the actor since filming began for Season 3.
“It feels like there’s a huge weight on your shoulders, a feeling of comfort,” showrunner Steve Blackman account Time. “There is a lightness, a lot more smile.”
The page says below Time that return to the set of The Umbrella Academy was validating. However, it is also sometimes strange when your co-workers adapt to the pronouns.
“It will be an adjustment,” Page says of the people who address him with the wrong pronouns.
In another part of the interview, Page talks about the struggles he faced after the success of Juno. The film, which earned him BAFTA, Oscar and Golden Globe nominations, sent Page to a new caliber of fame. As a result, Page felt pressured to act and look certain in Hollywood. Eventually, Page began to suffer from depression, anxiety and panic attacks as she dealt with society’s expectations of looking feminine.

“[I didn’t know] how to explain to people that although [I was] an actor, just putting on a shirt cut for a woman would make me really bad, ”says Page.
Now, since becoming a transgender and not a binary, Page has received numerous job offers for transgender-related projects. From direction to performance and production, the Page team has seen an increase in these offerings since Page was launched publicly in December. Ultimately, Page’s comfort with his body made him yearn to act more than ever.
“I am very excited to act, now that I am totally who I am, in this body,” says Page. “No matter the challenges and difficult times, nothing is like feeling the way I feel now.”

In 2014, Page publicly became gay at Time To Thrive, a conference that promotes the well-being of LGBTQIA + Youth.
“I’m here today because I’m gay,” said Page during Time To Thrive. “And because maybe I can make a difference, to help others have an easier and more hopeful time. Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility. “
Since then, Page has been a strong advocate for the LGBTQIA + community over the years. Last year, Page called the Trump administration and politicization of gay rights in America.
“It is not a debate, whether Donald Trump is racist or not,” he said the Guardian. “Gay marriage is not a debate. And the media needs to stop claiming that it does. “
Then, on December 1, Page came out publicly as transgender and not binary. In a detailed social media post, the actor thanked everyone for the support and affection he received from the LGBTQIA + community.

I have been infinitely inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and unremitting work to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place. I will offer all the support I can and continue to fight for a more loving and egalitarian society. “
