The 34-year-old actor, whose credits in the film include “Inception” and two installments of the “X-Men” franchise, will appear on the cover of the next issue of the magazine with the title “I am totally who I am”.
“What I expected was a lot of support and love and an enormous amount of hatred and transphobia,” said Page. “This is essentially what happened.”
The actor, who won an Oscar nomination for his role in “Juno” in 2008, also spoke about his childhood, saying that he “felt like a boy” from a very young age. He remembered the “feeling of triumph” for being able to cut his hair short at the age of 9.
Page, who had already declared himself gay in 2014, also talked about having major surgery, a move he described as “completely transforming my life”. He goes on to discuss the fight for trans equality, as well as the “overwhelming standards” of the entertainment industry and the “widespread stereotypes about masculinity and femininity”.
“Extremely influential people are spreading these myths and damaging rhetoric – every day you see our existence being debated,” he said in the interview. “Trans people are very real.”

“For so many years, I want it and work for it,” wrote Neill in the caption. “I am very proud of Elliot and very grateful to the trans-elders who risked everything to make this moment happen.”
