On March 11, Grey’s Anatomy The 17th season left fans of Meredith Gray (Ellen Pompeo) and Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) heartbroken. What happened to Meredith Gray and Andrew DeLuca in the 17th season of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’?

Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 Episode 7 – titled “Hopelessly Hoping” – started where the Station 19 The premiere of the fourth season has been interrupted. During the firefighter’s dismemberment, DeLuca followed Opal, the woman suspected of sex trafficking. Then, in the end, DeLuca was stabbed.
On Grey’s Anatomy, Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) and Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) did everything to save DeLuca. At first, fans were hopeful that DeLuca would make it out alive. But at the end of the episode, the beloved character is gone. That said, DeLuca was still able to say goodbye to Meredith.
As you may remember, Meredith was placed on a fan in the Grey’s Anatomy End of winter of season 17 after contracting the coronavirus (COVID-19). Then DeLuca met with Meredith on the beach of dreams that highlighted the cameos of Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) and George O’Malley (TR Knight).

Meanwhile, DeLuca thanked Meredith for the time they spent together. “No matter what, I want you to know that I never felt seen the way you saw me,” DeLuca told Meredith. “I never felt inspired the way you did. You made me want to be not only my best, but my best. And yes, sometimes I felt small around you. I felt insecure. I wanted something from you that I needed to give myself. But here, now, on this beach with you, I understand. “
Then, when the ex-boyfriends watched the sunset from the pier, DeLuca’s mother called him. Meredith also seemed to know what was going to happen. “I’m going to miss you,” she said. “If I come back and you don’t, I’m going to miss you.
DeLuca told Meredith that he would be “OK” and revealed that he had to go. Meredith looked at DeLuca as he walked away with his mother. So DeLuca died in the real world.

When DeLuca died in Grey’s Anatomy, many cast members have applauded Gianniotti’s work over the past seven seasons. Then, in an Instagram post, Pompeo thanked his co-star.
“Bravo @giacomo_gianniotti”, wrote Pompeo on Instagram. “We will miss you. Thank you for showing up and being the consummate professional every time you entered the set. Gray it is a masterful lesson in patience and being present, however monotonous it may be. You nailed it. “
THE Grey’s Anatomy leadership continued, “Now you can go have fun and apply all of this skill !! I’m excited about your future … and remember that wine and pasta will always be part of that! “
Pompeo concluded the heartfelt message with “Tuo amico per semper”, which means “Your friend forever” in Italian.

After Pompeo’s post on Instagram, Gianniotti shared the same photo with a caption of his own. Gianniotti revealed that the selfie was taken on his last day at Grey’s Anatomy to define. Then the actor thanked Pompeo.
“My last day on the set … on the beach with this wavy beach beauty,” wrote Gianniotti on Instagram. “@Ellenpompeo although our friendship is eternal, this tour with you has been incredible and I will miss it so much to share the screen with you. Digging deep into the scenes, fighting for the truth, seeing how much you care about your character and the show after all these years. It was an honor. “
He continued, “Deluca and Meredith are not going to see each other anymore, but Giacomo and Ellen are going to have a lot more time for pasta and wine now. Well said. Thank you for making this experience so memorable, @ellenpompeo. “
