The Ellen DeGeneres Show it marked the late end of his annual “12 days of free gifts” on January 12, when presenter DeGeneres returned for the first time after a positive test for COVID-19 in December. DeGeneres’ positive test disrupted the program’s year-end schedule after she completed just 11 days of free gifts. And because “11 Days of Giveaways” just doesn’t have the same meaning, she brought back the same audience that would be there in December for her first show back (almost everything again, though). “Obviously, there are a lot of negative things going on, so instead, I’m going to talk about something positive: my COVID test,” she opened her monologue. DeGeneres went on to explain that she heard about the audition in her studio, before filming. “I was in the hair and makeup, powdering my face and putting on my extensions,” she joked. “And then my assistant Craig came in and said, ‘You tested positive for COVID,’ and then everyone around me ran away. It’s funny, people get really scared and run. Some haven’t come back since. “
DeGeneres also talked about her symptoms, namely the back pain she mentioned earlier in a video she tweeted. “The doctor prescribed painkillers and muscle relaxants – a hefty sum, this is finally paying off,” she said, going on to describe the pain. “Do you know how I make you laugh so hard that your ribs hurt? It was like that for me. Now I know how you feel when I make you laugh. ”Back pain, she added, was“ the only symptom ”she experienced. (COVID-19 is reported to cause muscle pain, which may include back pain, according to Prevention.) “I didn’t have a headache; I didn’t have a fever; I didn’t lose my taste, ”continued DeGeneres. “Although I used Crocs with socks for a day, then you are the judge.” She concluded her monologue by telling the public that she did not know where she had contracted the virus (“I only lick three or four doorknobs”) and that she “sympathizes” with everyone who deals with COVID-19. “I hope this show will give you some joy, brighten your day,” said DeGeneres.
