Ellen DeGeneres provided a health update on his wife, Portia de Rossi, who was rushed to the hospital over the weekend for appendicitis.
A preview of Tuesday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” shows the 63-year-old presenter detailing the moment she found Rossi doubled over in pain by the bed on Friday night.
“How is everyone’s weekend? Have you had a good weekend? Good to know. Does anyone else have to rush your wife to the emergency room for an appendectomy? Anyone? No? Just me?” DeGeneres talks about the response to audience laughter through a clip shared by Entertainment Tonight.
DeGeneres then relieves Rossi’s concerns by sharing that she returned home from the hospital after being in great pain and had an appendectomy. Although, in her characteristic tone, the presenter of a daytime talk show told a few jokes about the ordeal.

Speaking of the Friday night incident, DeGeneres recalls: “Portia said, ‘I’m not feeling well, I want to go to bed’. It was about 8 o’clock. It’s early. I’m not used to going to bed anytime soon. We go to bed around 8:30. “

After drinking a drink with CBD and taking vitamins to help her sleep, DeGeneres says she was “passed out” when she realized that de Rossi was not in the bed next to her.
“I shout, ‘Are you okay?’ And I hear ‘ahhh.’ And I say, ‘baby, are you okay?’ “Uh-huh.” So I get out of bed and find Portia on the floor on all fours. DeGeneres said he then rushed his wife to the emergency room.

“We’re driving and she’s in a lot of pain and I’m worried about her. I don’t know what’s wrong with her because I grew up in Christian Science, so my guess was a demon? I don’t know. So, anyway, they did a CT scan I didn’t know what it was. They said ‘CT scan’ and I said, ‘Let’s get the cat out of it.’ They did the CT scan and they still weren’t sure why there was a lot going on, inflammation, “continues DeGeneres.
The presenter of a daytime talk show said she could not be next to his wife at the hospital due to coronavirus protocols.

The host said it was “disturbing” to know that she could not be with Rossi at the hospital because of the ongoing COVID-19 protocols.
“They sent me home and I’m crying because someone was cutting onions at the nurses’ station,” says DeGeneres. “The next morning, they call and say it’s the appendix. We need to remove the appendix. I am Christian Science, so I said to the doctor, ‘because of the demon? Did the appendix have the demon? ‘ Anyway, they hung up. “

The actress was connected to an IV and receiving painkillers because she was “in a lot of pain,” said DeGeneres. She joked that Rossi begged the nurses for more medication in exchange for tickets to DeGeneres’ talk show.
She then shared that de Rossi is “feeling much better now” and returned home on Monday.
“Not all of it. She left her appendix at the hospital,” adds DeGeneres. “No, I’m going to auction the appendix for charity. I’m kidding, go to eBay. I’m kidding again. I’m saving it in case I write another book because I’m going to put it at the end of the book. Do you understand?”

The “Arrested Development” star is not the only one who has struggled recently in terms of health. DeGeneres tested positive for COVID-19 in December 2020.
The couple married in August 2008 after same-sex marriage was legalized in California.
