Days after her ex-husband’s cannibalism controversy began, Elizabeth Chambers is responding to Armie Hammer’s scandal over DM with “total shock”.
A source told Entertainment Tonight on Thursday, January 14, that the 38-year-old TV personality is “sick” by recent claims that the Call me by your name star, 34, sent alleged messages to other women detailing explicit sexual fantasies, some including violent references to mutilation and cannibalism. “Elizabeth is in complete shock at the accusations against Armie and feels that her world has turned upside down,” the source told ET. “She is disgusted by the various demands of women.”
The source continued to note that Chambers is focused on his children. Bird Bakery’s CEO shares daughter Harper, 6, and son Ford, 3, with Hammer. “Your first priority, as always, is your children and trying to protect them from this news and ensuring that they feel safe and protected,” explained the source. “She doesn’t want them to be traumatized by everything that’s going on.”
According to a separate source who spoke with The sun on Thursday, the recent news crushed all chances of reconciliation between Chambers and Hammer after their separation announcement in July 2020. Chambers “was willing to fight for his family and repair what he promptly threw away until it became clear for her who no longer valued her vows or family, ”explained the source.
Chambers’ reaction came days after social media users started sharing disturbing direct messages, supposedly sent by Hammer. In a screenshot taken by House of Effie on Instagram, Hammer allegedly asked a partner if he could “cut off one of his toes and keep it in my pocket so I always had a piece of you in my possession.” In another, he allegedly fantasized about “cutting you into pieces and f *** ing the pieces.”
Hammer responded to the controversy on Wednesday, January 13, calling the allegations “bullshit”. Despite his reaction, the actor revealed that he would leave his role in the next film Forced marriage opposite Jennifer Lopez.
“I am not responding to these shitty allegations, but in light of the wicked and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot, in good conscience, now leave my children for four months to make a film in the Dominican Republic,” said the actor in a declaration. “Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I am grateful to them for that.”
