George Harris Prep (Canada) star Enoch Boakye decided to withdraw from Michigan and reopen his recruitment, the 1.8m tall center told Sports Illustrated.
“It’s a difficult decision, because I really love the state of Michigan,” said Boakye. “But it is just one of those situations where I have to do what is best for me and my future.”
The problem, according to Boakye, a junior, stems from the big standoff in Lansing, which is likely to stay on longer because of the Spartans’ unimaginable season.

Spartans are 10-8 overall and 4-8 in the Big Ten.
“Just doing a lot of research with my people and watching a lot of games, it looks like a lot of guys are going to stay,” said Boakye. “I want to go to a place where I have the opportunity to make an immediate impact. This is my # 1 goal. ”

Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Arizona State, Arizona, USC, Duke, Kentucky, Washington State and Gonzaga have contacted each other since the commitment was canceled, according to Boakye.
“I really don’t have a timetable to decide now,” he said. “At the same time, I don’t want to waste anyone’s time. I think things are going to happen fast. I think, eventually, I will reach one of the top three and then I will announce. ”
Last season, Boakye averaged 13 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks per game. Sports have been suspended in most parts of Canada this season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Boakye said he could come to the United States to play AAU games starting next season.
“That was hard to do because I just went to visit there, I really loved everything about it,” said Boakye of Michigan. “What I’m learning now is that I also need to make business decisions. It must be the right fit for me in every way, so I’m opening it up again to make the best decision. “
