CARSON CITY, Nevada (KOLO) – Governor Steve Sisolak announced the eligibility of the new COVID-19 vaccine during a news conference on Wednesday, March 17.
“The end is in sight. Nevada, we can do this, we can do this together. “
As of March 22, 2021, all Nevadans aged 16 and over with underlying health problems are eligible to receive the vaccine.
“Vaccination opportunities for this group of Nevadans will be available through the retail pharmacy program,” said Governor Sisolak.
As of April 5, 2021, all Nevadans aged 16 and over are eligible to receive the vaccine.
Governor Sisolak added: “By opening eligibility for all Nevadans aged 16 and over on April 5, it means that families, friends and co-workers can pursue this opportunity together, which will help to deal with access and hesitation ”.
The eligibility of the current vaccine is described in the state’s COVID-19 Vaccine Playbook.
When asked how to meet the demand for vaccines by opening the window of eligibility, Governor Sisolak said residents must continue to attend scheduled appointments and counties praised for bringing vaccines into people’s arms.
He said that currently, 1 in 4 of Nevada’s eligible population received the vaccine.
“State and local partners are working to ensure that we are putting as many shots as possible into the arms every day,” Gov. said Sisolak.
The governor ended his speech with an appeal to Nevadans: “As soon as you are available for the vaccine, make an appointment.”
