On the same day, news broke that WWE would have hired Taya Valkyrie, another report says the company signed with Eli Drake.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider claims that WWE signed former world champion IMPACT. “WWE signed with former Impact Wrestling world champion Eli Drake (real name Shaun Ricker, 38) for an agreement for the WWE NXT brand, PWInsider.com confirmed,” wrote Johnson.
Drake was a prominent player in the National Wrestling Alliance in 2019, but Johnson notes that Drake was “quietly launched” last year.
Drake had a normal run on NXT in 2013-2014. Since then, he starred in IMPACT Wrestling, where he won the promotion’s world title. He also won the NWA World Tag Team Championship with James Storm.
Like Valkyrie, Drake will likely be revealed as part of the WWE Performance Center class.
