Electronic Arts revealed today that it is opening a new development studio called Full Circle to build the next game in the Skate series. Full Circle joins EA Sports and Respawn Entertainment as the publisher’s third developer in Vancouver.
Former Xbox Live chief Daniel McCulloch is overseeing the team as general manager.
“The fans wanted Skate to come back into existence and we want them to feel involved in the process, from development to the launch of the game and more,” said McCulloch. “We want them to feel that they are part of Full Circle.”
Full Circle also seeks to bring new talents to work in Skate.
“What matters is having fun and creating great games that people want to play with friends. And we’re looking for more developers to help us build attractive worlds for players to explore. “
Known faces return to # Skate4
While McCulloch is taking action to run the development, EA has also brought Skate’s top creative leads back to shape the next game. Deran Chung and Cuz Parry are back to their roles as important designers.
“We are very happy to be back at Skate,” said Chung and Parry in a statement. “Some would say that things have taken a complete turn.”
Oh I understood!
This continues EA’s investment in the Vancouver development landscape, which has an abundance of talent. The city is a major technology hub and is still significantly more accessible than similar American cities like San Francisco or Los Angeles. In addition, Canada has produced some powerful skateboard names, such as Pierre-Luc Gagnon and Sluggo Boyce. Now, that energy can reach skateboard video games.
