Elderly woman injected by fraudster with fake COVID vaccine: report

A fraudster who claims to work for the British National Health Service injected a fake COVID-19 vaccine into a 92-year-old woman – charging about $ 218, according to a new report.

The con man appeared at the nonagenarian’s door in Surbiton, southwest London, on December 30, claiming he was from the NHS and was there to administer the vaccine, Metro UK reported.

The unsuspecting senior let him in and then he stuck it in his arm with a “dart-like instrument,” the police said, according to the report.

He reportedly charged £ 160 – about $ 218 for the fake vaccine, which he claimed would be reimbursed by the NHS.

London city police told the agency that it was not clear which substance was administered, if any, but the woman, who was examined at a local hospital, did not appear to be ill.

“This is a disgusting and totally unacceptable attack on a member of the public who will not be tolerated,” said inspector-detective Kevin Ives, according to Metro. “We are appealing to anyone who may have information that can help us identify this man, who can get in touch. It is crucial to capture him as soon as possible, as he is not only defrauding money from individuals, but can endanger the lives of others. ”

The suspect reportedly showed up at the woman’s house again on Monday, asking for another 100 pounds, about $ 136.

Surveillance images captured that day show him wearing a navy blue tracksuit with white stripes on the sides.

Police say the man, who speaks with a London accent, is about 30, about six feet tall, medium-sized and with light brown hair combed back.
