PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Health is adding a fourth state-run site for mass vaccination of COVID-19 next week, this one in East Valley.

The Chandler-Gilbert Community College distribution point, which is operating as part of the Maricopa County vaccination program, will become a location for the Arizona Department of Health Services on March 3, Governor Doug Ducey announced Monday. market.

It will operate initially from 7 am to 5 pm daily and will increase up to 24 hours a day when more vaccine supplies are available, according to a press release.

Registration for doses on the East Valley website will open on March 1 at 9:00 am

“A region with well over half of our state’s population will now have three state-administered vaccination sites that position Arizona to vaccinate large numbers quickly as vaccine supplies expand,” said Arizona’s Director of Health. , Dr. Cara Christ, in the statement.

Dignity Health runs the community college website with Maricopa County. As previously planned, the municipality will close its works there Saturday. On February 6, Dignity Health celebrated the administration of 100,000 doses in the POD, located on Pecos Road, west of Gilbert Road in Chandler.

The state health department will reopen the operation in partnership with the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs, Arizona’s Blue Cross Blue Shield and the Maricopa County Community College district.

“Arizona asked the federal government to provide our state with more doses of vaccine,” said Ducey in the statement. “As more supplies become available, we will be ready to administer the vaccine and protect Arizonans.”

Last week, the existing vaccination operation at the University of Arizona was transformed into the third state-run site, the first in southern Arizona.

He joined state-run venues at State Farm Stadium in Glendale and Phoenix Municipal Stadium. Only the State Farm Stadium website, which debuted on Jan. 11, is offering 24/7 service so far.
