Early predictions for Georgia’s 2021 football calendar
Georgia’s 2021 schedule was released on Wednesday. With the practice of spring and autumn still to come, obviously a lot will change with this team from Georgia.

But it’s also never too early to look at the full list and see how Georgia will fare during the 2021 season. We made an attempt to project game by game too early for the 2021 season.
Clemson, September 4, Charlotte: This game will set the tone for the Georgia season. Win, and Bulldogs are likely to climb to number one in the polls. Lose, and the noise that Kirby Smart can’t win big games gets louder, even if it’s false.
Ohio gave Georgia a plan on how to defeat Clemson. Having a defensive line that can overcome Clemson’s greatest weakness, the offensive line, and having receivers who can make deep plays against his side. On paper, Georgia seems to have both.
Bulldogs, however, have exactly those same areas of concern. These two teams are very similar and Georgia can win this game. Part of the reason for choosing Clemson is just because I don’t have the heart to say that Georgia will go 12-0 in the regular season. Clemson 31, Georgia 26
UAB, September 11, Athens: Some will notice UAB as a Group of 5 team and discard them. This is not a cupcake game. Under Bill Clark, the Blazers have reached 34-16 in the past four seasons. Much like an Arkansas state in 2019 or an Appalachian state in 2017, Georgia will not be able to join this team lightly.
Still, Georgia should be able to flex its muscles, as long as Clemson’s performance doesn’t have a very strong impact on this game in any direction. Georgia 38, UAB 10
South Carolina, September 18, Athens: The last time South Carolina entered Sanford Stadium, it emerged with an impressive 20-17 loss to the Bulldogs. While Georgia will never publicly admit to being a motivating factor, the game will be on your mind on September 18.
This will also be Shane Beamer’s first SEC conference game as head coach. It will be against one of his former bosses, as Beamer trained in Georgia in 2016 and 2017.
South Carolina’s closet is not empty, as Will Muschamp has recruited very well over the past few seasons, but this is a game that Georgia must convincingly win. Of course, that should be the case the last time the two met. Georgia 41, South Carolina 13
Vanderbilt, September 25, Nashville: The Commodores also have a first year head coach at Clark Lea. He has an uphill battle as far as fixing a Vanderbilt program that went 0-9 last season.
Georgia and Vanderbilt were unable to play in 2020 due to COVID issues within the Vanderbilt program. The cancellation of that game cost Georgia the chance to have a veteran’s day. Some may point this out as a motivating factor, but Georgia does not need this for this game. Georgia is much, much better. Georgia 52, Vanderbilt 3
Arkansas, October 2, Athens: After Beamer returns to Athens in September, Sam Pittman will do so in early October. Pittman’s first game as head coach was against Georgia in 2020. While the final score was 37-10, the Razorbacks actually had a 10-5 lead at halftime.
In Pittman’s first year, Razorbacks showed great improvements. They also bring back the coordinators at Barry Odom and Kendal Briles. Georgia has gotten better with JT Daniels as a defender since that game, but the Razorbacks will not be a simple task. Georgia 34, Arkansas 16
Auburn, October 9, Auburn, Alabama: This will be the third year the Georgia coach has seen at this point in the season, with Bryan Harsin in place of Gus Malzahn.
Auburn will have played LSU the week before, drawing Bulldogs at a difficult time on his schedule. Georgia won Auburn last season, and that was before the Tigers had to replace wide receivers Seth Williams and Anthony Schwartz.
Bo Nix and Tank Bigsby return to Auburn, and Mike Bobo is requesting plays for the Tigers now. Derek Mason is a highly regarded defensive mind and, although the Tigers may not have a Derek Brown player, they will still be tough at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Georgia 27, Auburn 17
Kentucky, October 16, Athens, Georgia: While Georgia beat Kentucky each time under Smart, the Wildcats rarely made it easy. The Wildcats held Georgia to the lowest mark of the season at 14 points in 2020 and scored just 21 the last time these two teams met in Athens.
The Wildcats also bring a lot of talent from their 2020 team. Kentucky has a new offensive coordinator while Liam Coen takes over from Eddie Gran. The Wildcats still have concerns about defenders, but given Georgia’s fifth consecutive SEC game, don’t expect the Bulldogs to slow down in the week off. Georgia 23, Kentucky 6
Florida, October 30, Jacksonville, Florida: This game aims to place the two favorites in the SEC East. Florida won the 2020 game 44-28, thanks to a great performance by Kyle Trask and a poor performance by Stetson Bennett and D’Wan Mathis.
The Bulldogs will have Daniels as a quarterback in this game – unless injured – while the Gators will have a new quarterback in Emory Jones or Anthony Richardson. Georgia should have an advantage in the quarterback and that should give the Bulldogs an advantage over the Gators. Georgia 37, Florida 24
Missouri, November 6, Athens, Georgia: Missouri has a very favorable schedule for starting 2021, before tying Texas A&M and Georgia in the second half of the schedule. Tigers were 5 to 5 in the first year under Eli Drinkwitz, perhaps exceeding expectations.
But Georgia dominated the Tigers when these two teams met on December 12. Jordan Davis played an important role in interrupting the running game, while George Pickens destroyed secondary Missouri. With the two back, except Georgia to once again go out with a victory. Georgia 45, Missouri 17
Tennessee, November 13, Knoxville, Tenn.: Volunteers have a new head coach at Josh Heupel, as he was officially introduced on Wednesday. But the Volunteers have seen several of their best players transfer, with rush leader Eric Gray heading to Oklahoma.
This is the last game of the season at the SEC in Georgia and Bulldogs could have SEC East won at this point. Tennessee is such a mess at this point that it is difficult to see how competitive they will be against elite teams like the Bulldogs. Georgia 55, Tennessee 24
Charleston Southern, November 20, Athens, Georgia: We don’t need to think about this much. It was very refreshing in 2020 to have no FCS opponents to discuss on Georgia’s schedule. Georgia 55, Charleston Southern 7
Georgia Tech, November 27, Atlanta: The Yellow Jackets return to programming in 2021, with Georgia ending its regular season in Atlanta. Georgia didn’t get a chance to play Georgia Tech in 2020 due to the SEC’s going to an exclusive list of conferences.
Geoff Collins needs a few things to start doing well in his third season, as the Yellow Jackets have won just three games in each of the first two years. We don’t think they will have a good day against Georgia. Georgia 48, Georgia Tech 14
Predicted record: 11-1, 8-0 in the SEC game
