Eagles WR Marquise Goodwin reverts to 49ers

If you are a fan of strange NFL transactions, you will like this one. ESPN Field Yates reports (via Twitter) that Eagles wideout Goodwin Marquise reverted to 49ers, according to the terms of trade the teams concluded last year.

However, it does not appear that the veteran receiver’s second pass in San Francisco will last that long. Yates notes that Goodwin is unlikely to fit the 49ers’ plans on the wide receiver, saying that this is just “a procedural motion. “

After four seasons in Buffalo, Goodwin joined the 49ers in 2017. He started an escape campaign for his new team, collecting 56 receptions for 962 yards and two touchdowns. However, the receiver did not come close to matching this production between the 2018 and 2019 seasons, compiling 605 yards of scrimmage and five scores in 20 games (14 matches).

Goodwin was traded to the Eagles last April, in a deal that saw the 49ers and the Eagles switch options in the sixth round. The 30-year-old ended up declaring himself an opt-out for the 2020 season, and his term in Philadelphia ends without him taking the field for his new team.
