Let’s go to Philadelphia Eagles links …
The Eagles are expected to cut or trade former Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz, possibly negotiating with Carson Wentz, per report – CBS Sports
While the NFL is waiting patiently for an early replacement from Carson Wentz, the Philadelphia Eagles are soon set to part ways with another franchise icon. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Zach Ertz, three times the Pro Bowl’s tight end, is “getting ready for a change of scenery via trade or launch,” perhaps even as part of a package involving Wentz. The 30-year-old Ertz gave a tearful speech to Philly’s media at the end of the 2020 season, admitting he was unsure of his future with the team. Now it looks like he was actually saying goodbye early. Ertz has long been a speculated wage drop for 2021, entering the final year of a $ 42.5 million five-year extension signed in 2016. In fact, the eagles reportedly attempted to replace the former Super Bowl champion before the term of the 2020 season, but the tight end’s ankle sprain, which kept him off the pitch for more than a month, prevented the club from reaching a deal. It’s not clear what the commercial value of Ertz would be entering his 30-year campaign, but the Eagles, who are due to start a major rebuild with a new team, would save at least $ 4.7 million in 2021 with a cap, cutting or trading from it.
Why the 2021 Eagles could be really bad – BGN
As Carson Wentz’s trade saga creeps and drains us and Bears and Colts fans mentally, it also dazzles that the 2021 Eagles have a really good chance of being a really bad team. We are talking historically bad for the franchise. The 4 wins in 2020 were the second worst total win in a 16-game season in the history of the Eagles, behind only the 1998 team 3-13. The 2012 Eagles also won 4 games, these three teams had the worst records in the history of the Eagles in the era of 16 games. The 2021 Eagles could improve on the 2020 team. But they also have a good chance of being even worse. Every really terrible team reaches a triad of terrible: bad management, bad offensive and bad defense. It is not difficult to see the Eagles having all three.

Report: Frank Reich believes the Colts ‘could build around’ Eagles QB Carson Wentz – if negotiated with Indy – Stampede Blue
However, there is no sugar coating. Wentz was absolutely terrible last season. He made 16 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 12 matches before being placed on the bench in favor of newcomer quarterback Jalen Hurts. There were also rumors of problems with his cohabitation and responsibility as a Philadelphia quarterback last season. Make no mistake, though, Wentz is a dynamic quarterback – when he’s really doing well, that could potentially turn into a quarterback in the NFL franchise again – and a star passer that the Colts could build on the attack. However, there are some bad habits developed to correct – in fact, many of them, so there is no guarantee of anything.
Report: Eagles have not yet had a choice in the first round for Carson Wentz – PFT
Any influence that the Eagles currently have evaporates instantly if the Colts meet their needs elsewhere. While there is no indication that the Colts are preparing to move towards another veteran quarterback, if the Eagles put too much pressure on and wait too long, the Colts will have no choice but to make other plans. So, why not accept the offer of two choices in the second round, if Jaworki’s information is correct? He gets the Eagles net worth for a quarterback whose performance in 2020, along with his current contract, could easily have put the Eagles in Brock Osweiler mode, requiring them to give someone a draft choice to remove Wentz’s bloated contract from books.
Joe Banner: No one is going to offer the Eagles a deal similar to Matthew Stafford by Carson Wentz – Inquirer
I have always rejected the narrative that they hired a new coach to “fix” Wentz. So, when they hired the coach of defenders (Brian Johnson), who already knew Jalen Hurts, it seemed pretty obvious to me that if there was something to read about the signings, it was not good for Wentz. But this is a mutual thing. Carson definitely wants to play elsewhere. But the Eagles also clearly decided that the benefits of having it over the cost of having it, based on the (commercial) compensation they expected, would be better off without it. Which should tell the market that they don’t believe he can be who he was in 2017 again. If they did, that would be the guy they would want. So, they are telling the market that they don’t think he can be who he was. So now you have to find a team that believes otherwise, even if you don’t know them as well as the Eagles. Which, incidentally, is why it is no coincidence that the two teams with the most interest – Chicago and Indianapolis – both have former Eagles coaches who were on the team when Carson had his best season. Each of them has enough confidence – or arrogance – time will tell, to believe that they can take it away from them again.
The large 2021 QB carousel has endless possibilities. This is just a rotation. – Illustrated sports
Carson Wentz moves to Chicago; Nick Foles returns to Philadelphia. It appears that Wentz’s final destination is determined by which team (Chicago or Indianapolis) blinks first in the days leading up to Wentz’s lineup bonus on March 20. The Bears have more attractive recruiting capital to offer immediately and they are theoretically more desperate. There is no doubt that Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace will not return in 2022 if the Bears do not make it to the postseason again. The deal with the Bears would be well organized, giving the Eagles some flexibility in the draft in 2021 and giving the Bears a slightly better chance of resisting the brutal NFC North after leaving Mitch Trubisky. The return of Bellows to Philadelphia would pacify the fan base and give the Eagles the ideal mentor to maximize their assessment period at Jalen Hurts, as well as the ability to engage Bellows with the coaching staff, helping him to heal a clearly fractured and frustrated locker room. .
Eagles’ Briefcase: What’s the plan if Kelce retires? – NBCSP
Obviously, it wouldn’t be good news if Jason Kelce decides to retire. And based on his participation in Chris Long’s Green Light podcast, Kelce is still thinking about his future. Without knowing what the eagles would do in the draft, the initial plan would probably be to slide Isaac Seumalo from the left guard to the center and then replace him with Nate Herbig and His Opeta. That wouldn’t be too bad, but they would obviously lose the All-Pro in the middle of the attack. During the season on a video call with Seumalo, I really asked him whether or not he would be able to play at the center at this point in his career. “Coach Stout (Jeff Stoutland) knows that I am always willing to help the team in any way I can and play anywhere, which was the theme of my first 3-4 years,” he said. “Now I’m just playing at one point. But I feel comfortable if the call comes because of injuries or something, I can play in the center. But I am going to trust the coaches and the five guys they put in. First of all, I have to do my job to the best of my abilities and look in the mirror at the end of the day and make sure I’m doing everything I can to help the team individually. “
‘Valentine’s Opinions’: Why Mel Kiper is right, and more ideas – Big Blue View
When I had the opportunity to speak with Alex Tanney a few years ago, it was clear that the now ex-reserve Giants defender was looking at a coaching career when he finished. He is, of course, starting this journey with a low-level job on the Philadelphia Eagles team. My guess is that Tanney will do very well in his new career. Snicker as much as you want in Tanney’s career – appearing in just two games and launching 15 passes (11 submissions) with eight different franchises over nine seasons. I’m sure he wants more gaming opportunities to come up. Still, he spent nine years in the NFL lockers and meeting rooms, contributing and learning. I think he will use everything he has learned in a successful coaching career. Good luck, Alex!
What is your worst nightmare scenario in the first round of recruiting for a rival Dallas Cowboys team? – Blogging the boys
While LSU’s La’Marr Chase is a name that comes up a lot for Eagles draft drafts, there is another receiver that I would not like to see with wings on his helmet this coming season. The speed and ability to catch the ball from Alabama’s DeVonta Smith can finally give the Eagles an important talent in position. This would even reunite him with his former teammate, as Jalen Hurts played three years in Alabama before moving to Oklahoma, the latter two launching passes for Smith.
