Eagles may have the Jalen Hurts dilemma after any Carson Wentz negotiation

Negotiating the disgruntled star defender Carson Wentz could end an Eagles quarterback controversy – and start another.

Philadelphia is not committed to handing over the initial position to Jalen Hurts, as previously believed, and could negotiate for a quarterback or choose another in the NFL’s 2021 Draft, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“I don’t think they’re just in the quarterback position,” said Schefter on Wednesday at “The John Kincade Show” at 97.5 The Fanatic.

The Eagles have been trying to find a business partner for Wentz – and his $ 128 million contract albatross – for weeks, and the Colts or Bears are expected to acquire the former MVP candidate.

Wentz, 28, reportedly requested an exchange after he was sent off for a bad game in December.

During his four games in place of Wentz, Hurts, a second-round pick in last year’s draft, showed flashes on the ground and in the air, and seemed on his way to winning his initial job next fall.

But then the Eagles fired coach Doug Pederson and hired Nick Sirianni, who may want to bring in his own quarterback.

The Eagles would probably need to negotiate – as they did when Wentz chose second overall place in 2016 – from the sixth choice to select one of the best defenders, Ohio State’s Justin Fields or BYU’s Zach Wilson.

Fields and Wilson are considered better candidates than Hurts was last spring.

Another option would be to switch Wentz to Chicago for Nick Foles and draft choices.

Such a move can be welcomed by Eagles fans. Bellows replaced an injured Wentz during the 2017 season and led Philadelphia to their first Super Bowl title.
