The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced the inactive list for their Week 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
The following Eagles players were considered INACTIVE: Derek Barnett, Duke Riley, Richard Rodgers, JJ Arcega-Whiteside, John Hightower, Jason Huntley, Nate Sudfeld.
Barnett unexpectedly appeared on Friday’s injury report with a calf problem and was unable to travel with the team to Texas. With Barnett out and Josh Sweat in reserve, the Eagles stayed with Brandon Graham, Vinny Curry, Genard Avery (!) And Joe Ostman on the defensive end. You need young people to introduce themselves.
Riley’s absence leaves the Eagles with Alex Singleton, TJ Edwards, Shaun Bradley and Joe Bachie in the linebacker. Edwards and Bradley expect to have more playing time than usual this week. Singleton is still the best linebacker.
With Rodgers out, the Eagles promoted Caleb Wilson from the training team to be the third tight end, behind Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz.
JJAW is a healthy scratch for the third time this season. The 2019 second round pick is the seventh receiver in the hierarchy behind Greg Ward, Alshon Jeffery, Jalen Reagor, DeSean Jackson, Quez Watkins and Travis Fulgham.
Hightower is a healthy risk for the third game in a row. Clearly in the doghouse.
Huntley is the fifth running back behind Miles Sanders, Jordan Howard (elevated from the training team for this week’s game), Boston Scott and Corey Clement.
Sudfeld has not been active since week 1.
Fletcher Cox and Cameron Johnston are both ACTIVE, although they were considered questionable in the Eagles’ final injury report.
The aforementioned DeSean Jackson is back for his first game since week 8. One can imagine that the 34-year-old receiver may be on a field count.
