EA signs new game for actor Abubakar Salim from Assassin’s Creed & Raised by Wolves

Electronic Arts announced on Thursday that it will publish a new, unannounced game from developer Silver Rain Games, a studio founded by actor Abubakar Salim, best known for his roles on HBO Max’s Created by wolves as a parent and at Ubisoft Origins of Assassin’s Creed like Bayek. The Silver Rain game will be released under the EA Originals label, the independent brand of the company responsible for games like Faith, Sea of Solitude, and Two.

Salim co-founded Silver Rain in 2019 with studio head Melissa Phillips, formerly of BAFTA Games. According to an Electronic Arts press release, Silver Rain was founded “with the intention of generating innovative and thought-provoking games and content in different entertainment media”. Silver Rain has about 20 employees.

“In what has been a challenging year, we have assembled an extraordinarily creative and global team that is eager to work on projects that bring their global perspectives to life,” said Salim in a statement. “Together, we will build an exciting universe that reveals the power of narrative and the brilliance it brings. We couldn’t be happier to work with the EA Originals team, who are phenomenal partners for us at the start of this journey. Each of them not only understands our vision to inspire and entertain, but also welcomes this new era of game development ”.

Electronic Arts announced the EA Originals program in 2016. The publisher said at the time that it established EA Originals to promote “unique, beautiful, innovative and memorable” games. In the case of Silver Rain, EA “will provide funding for Silver Rain’s unannounced IP, as well as guidance and support on the team’s journey to bring a new perspective to games and the industry.”
