Following the 2020 event cancellation due to covid-19, and a lot rumor and speculation Regarding this year’s iteration of what was once the most important video game fair in the world, the Entertainment Software Association today announces E3 2021, a free all-digital event that takes place from June 12th to 15th. Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, Warner Bros. Games and Koch Media are already scheduled to participate.

The good news is that everyone goes to E3 this year for free. The other good news is that no one needs to fly across the country or around the world to participate in the annual LA-based sweat festival that is E3. Instead, we’ll all be sitting comfortably at home or at work, watching our screens as we always do, except that now our screens will have the official E3 logo instead of the E3 logos. two dozen or more digital events created last year to fill the void left by the cancellation of E3 2020.

These other events are yet to happen, but we will also have E3 2021, a show that will digitally connect developers and publishers with fans around the world. ESA’s official announcement does not suggest what this digital program will look like. We are guessing that there will be many trailers and pre-filmed interviews with industry experts. Whichever form the great destroyer takes, Kotaku confirmed that the event will be completely free for participants, with no elements blocked behind paid access.

“For more than two decades, E3 has been the premier venue to showcase the best that the video game industry has to offer, while uniting the world through games,” said Stanley Pierre-Louis, president and CEO ESA by means of a press release. “We are transforming this year’s E3 into a more inclusive event, but we will still seek to enthuse fans with great revelations and privileged opportunities that make this event the indispensable central stage for video games.”

You heard the man. Indispensable. Just try to dispense with it. You will probably fail. See you at E3 2021.
