Dwayne The Rock Johnson is a pioneer – so says the Hollywood Critics Association that labeled him as such – but DJ says his parents were the real pioneer.
Johnson accepted the HCA Trailblazer Award Friday night via Zoom, of course, and he was thrilled.
Dwayne says he felt very lucky to be in a position of privilege where he could make people feel good. He did it in style, working with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for a long, long time. He was also honored for his donations to frontline workers and early respondents.
Former wrestling champion dedicated the award to his father, WWE Hall of Famer Rocky Johnson, who died a year ago, at the age of 75. Dwayne called his father a true pioneer and then described their relationship as “complicated” – “Father and son, hard love, hard love”. Dwayne says his father did everything he could to make people come home happy.
Congratulations for the prize !!!
