Dwayne Johnson brings his mother Ata to play ukulele on The Tonight Show, starring Jimmy Fallon

Dwayne Johnson appeared in a virtual interview on The Tonight Show, starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, but his mother, Ata Johnson, stole the show.

The Rock was promoting its new NBC series, Young Rock, premiering on February 16, when Fallon mentioned that he didn’t know that Johnson’s mother played the ukulele, as he saw in a video that Johnson recently posted.

The 48-year-old action star surprised Fallon by bringing Ata into the camera and making her play two songs on the ukulele for him.

Fallon mentioned that he saw a video on Johnson’s Instagram, where they were on his grandparents’ headstones in Hawaii.

The talk show host mentioned that he didn’t know that Ata played the ukulele, and although Johnson tried to explain that she did, he decided to just introduce her to the camera.

Johnson told his mother that he wants her to ‘say hi to someone you know’ when she sees Fallon on the screen.

Ata asked if he remembered her, he said ‘sure, from us’ on New Year’s Eve. I remember our part. ‘

When she asked if he remembered what he had done, Fallon said he remembered, ‘lying on the floor pretending I was passed out’, which Ata said: ‘That was incredible.’

She added that she “had a great time that night” with Fallon and the mother of Johnson’s wife, Lauren Hashian.

When asked about the video, Ata said, ‘Every time we go to Hawaii, we go to visit my parents, yes.’

She then started playing the Samoan folk song Savalivali means going for a walk to Fallon, who was impressed enough.

Ata even said there was one more song, Johnson joked: ‘What do you mean by one more?’ while she continued to play an improvised song about Fallon.
