Dwayne Haskins skips the mandatory post-game media obligation

Dwayne Haskins’ time in Washington is clearly coming to an end.

Washington replaced Haskins, the 15th overall choice in 2019, for Taylor Heinicke in the second half of a 20-13 loss to Carolina.

Haskins then left the stadium without speaking to reporters, violating the NFL’s access policy that requires the starting quarterback to speak after the game, unless he is injured. Nicki Jhabvala’s The Washington Post Haskins reports refused to speak when approached by the public relations team and did not respond to attempts by the public relations team to contact you by phone.

So much for Haskins’ pledge last week to stop getting in his own way and “be a better and more responsible teammate and fix my problems that brought me into this situation.” This went on for four days.

Haskins apologized to teammates on Wednesday for violating the COVID-19 protocols on Sunday night, participating in what he called a private birthday party. The team withdrew their captaincy as part of their punishment and fined Haskins $ 40,000.

Earlier this season, Washington fined Haskins $ 4,833 for inviting a friend to the team’s hotel, violating the COVID-19 protocols. Last year, Haskins missed the final snap of a victory over Lions while taking a selfie with a fan.

On Sunday, Haskins completed 14 of 28 passes for 154 yards and two interceptions before being pulled. Washington hopes that Alex Smith will be able to return next Sunday in a game of victory or victory against the Eagles, but either way, Haskins’ days as a starter – and therefore his obligation to speak after the game – are numbered.

UPDATE 8:31 PM ET: The team’s PR has announced that Haskins will conduct an interview at his home shortly.
