Confident Kate is the queen of video selfies: Duchess of Cambridge records message for Children’s Mental Health Week running around Norfolk
- Kate, 39, chose the outdoors for her first public selfie; spoke without notes
- Mother of three was running near the Cambridge family home in Anmer, Norfolk
- She said: ‘This year’s Children’s Mental Health Week aims to express itself – find creative ways to share your thoughts’
It takes more than good genes to get the kind of shiny skin that the Duchess of Cambridge always displays.
So it may not be surprising that the radiant Kate, who advocates the health benefits of bringing fresh air to her lungs, chose the outdoors for her first public selfie.
The 39-year-old woman filmed herself for a special video message to launch Children’s Mental Health Week while running in the countryside.
Wearing a £ 160 navy quilted Barbour jacket and a navy wool hat, she said: ‘This year’s Children’s Mental Health Week aims to express itself – finding creative ways to share your thoughts, ideas and feelings.

‘So whether it’s through photography, art, drama, music or poetry – it’s finding the things that make you feel good about yourself.’
Speaking without notes and looking directly at the phone during a break from running near the Cambridge family home in Anmer, Norfolk, the mother of three also asked parents and guardians to look after their own mental well-being.
“This is an extremely challenging time for all of us, so please take care of yourself too,” she said.
‘Find ways to share your thoughts and feelings or find someone to talk to, because we really need to be the best version of ourselves for the children in our care.’
Kate usually records a video message each year to support Children’s Mental Health Week – which starts tomorrow – but that was decidedly less formal and the first time she took a photo or video of herself to go public.
It will be on Kensington Palace social media sites starting today.
In a video call with her parents last week, Kate admitted that studying at home left her ‘exhausted’.
