Duce Staley is attracting interest from the Bears

The Chicago Bears found their new defensive coordinator at Sean Desai, but still have a few other positions to fill, including replacing Charles London as a running back coach.

According to Adam Jahns of The Athletic and Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, the Bears are showing interest in Duce Staley joining Matt Nagy’s coaching staff, where he would replace London as a running back trainer.

Staley currently serves as a technical assistant for the Philadelphia Eagles, but Garafolo and John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia reported that he was released from his contract. This happened after Staley was passed over for an interview chance for the position of chief coach and is now attracting the interest of several teams, including Bears and its NFC North rivals, the Detroit Lions.

If the Bears won over Staley, it would be a big sign for Nagy. Staley has served on the Eagles’ technical team in different roles for the past 10 years, including two of those years with Nagy. He has been the Eagles’ running back coach since 2013 and has served as a technical assistant for the past three years.
