Munchel was arrested earlier in the week, but Eisenhart was arrested on Saturday in Tennessee and the charges have been updated to include conspiracy.
It is a notable development in the manhunt across the country by the perpetrators of the January 6 attack, which left five dead, including a Capitol police officer. Dozens of people have been arrested and the FBI is investigating hundreds of cases, often based on the images and videos the rebels posted on social media.
Prosecutors indicated that they plan to file serious charges, including potentially “seditious conspiracy”, but started by arresting suspects for minor crimes to begin building a broader case.
Although Munchel was masked in the image of the Senate, the FBI relied on open source information and patches and distinctive symbols on their clothing, as well as surveillance images and other videos filmed at the hotel where the couple was staying to identify them. Since then, they have searched Munchel’s home and discovered the items seen in the Capitol photo, including “black hat distinct from the Black Rifle Coffee Company with American flag and rifle logo, black boots, black camouflage pants and shirt and black tactical vest with patches for one of a Punisher logo.
“Five pairs of white flexible handcuffs were also found inside the MUNCHEL home,” noted the FBI.
According to the recently released case against the duo, Munchel and Eisenhart appear in video footage near a crowd that was “physically attacking two Capitol police officers guarding the entrance to Senate chambers”. Finally, the police fled and the mob began the chase. Munchel and Eisenhart followed, both wielding the flexible cuffs in their hands “during the chase”. The two policemen escaped, according to the case report.
The FBI also cited a January 10 article in the Times of London citing Munchel and Eisenhart discussing the revolution.
“This country was founded on the revolution. … I would rather die as a 57-year-old woman than live under oppression, “Eisenhart told the newspaper.” I prefer to die and prefer to fight. “
