Driver leads Chase in Chino after hitting vice-vehicle and taking off – NBC Los Angeles

A driver leading a chase in several counties after a hit by a police vehicle treated a Diamond Bar highway like a demolition derby, colliding with unsuspecting drivers before being trapped behind a car on Tuesday.

The chase driver was at an impasse with the deputies at Diamond Bar near the 60 Freeway.

The deputies had their weapons drawn and were throwing pepper balls at the vehicle at around 4 pm.

The chase started at 3:24 pm, after the hit and run occurred on Valley Boulevard and Grand Avenue in the city of Walnut.

Two people were taken to the hospital after the accident.

The police tried several PIT maneuvers to no avail, leaving the sedan’s bumper hanging by a thread.

The red sedan also crashed sideways into about three other vehicles as it fled the police, before crashing into several others.

Finally, the chase driver hit a silver SUV and stopped.

The driver was still at an impasse with the deputies at 17:40

By 7 pm, a SWAT team was injecting tear gas into the sedan to get the driver out.

A passenger got out of the sedan and a SWAT officer picked it up and took it away.

The driver finally got out of the vehicle after the hour-long stalemate and was taken into custody.
