Driver killed after being shot, hitting RaceTrac with child in the back seat – WSB-TV Channel 2

COBB COUNTY, Georgia. – Cobb County Police said a man died after being shot while driving and then crashed into a RaceTrac gas station.

Police said the incident happened around 3 pm on Austell Road on Elmwood Drive. It is not clear whether the shooting took place at the gas station.

The driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he died.

Police said an 8-year-old child was in the backseat and was not shot, but received minor injuries.

The police did not release the victim’s name or any information about potential suspects.

This is one of several cases in which drivers were shot in the Atlanta metropolitan area in 2021.

This is also the third shootout involving a RaceTrac gas station in the Atlanta metropolitan area this month. One man was shot and another man was injured during an attempted assault on a RaceTrac near Georgia State University on March 6.

Last week, a 23-year-old RaceTrac employee was killed in Oconee County. The deputies have yet to identify a suspect in that shooting.
