Drake and Paul Rudd join Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers in State Farm’s Super Bowl LV ad

He is not afraid to make fun of himself, even in his own music videos.

And Drake continued to practice good sport when he made a surprise appearance in State Farm Insurance’s Super Bowl LV ad on Sunday.

The 34-year-old rap superstar joined Paul Rudd, 51, as a substitute in a commercial goal that also featured Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The ad started with Rodgers, 37, and Mahomes, 25, sitting in a movie studio before filming their State Farm ad.

‘Hey Rodgers, I’m you!’ shouts the actor who replaces the quarterback who looks nothing like him and wears a flashy cheese hat.

– You couldn’t find a replacement that looked like me? Rodgers asks Jake of State Farm (played by Kevin Miles).

– Did you see mine? Mahomes asks before gesturing to Rudd, who is wearing the same lightning shirt and holding a soccer ball.

– It’s like looking in the mirror, right? he says, before accidentally throwing the ball behind him.

‘That makes sense,’ Rodgers jokes with the youngest quarterback, who was on the pitch while the ad was airing.

But State Farm’s Jake complains that he doesn’t even have a replacement.

“Of course,” says a figure picking up some snacks at the craft service table.

A little better: 'Have you seen mine?' Mahomes asks before gesturing towards Paul Rudd, who is wearing the same lightning shirt and holding a football

Mahomes, incredulous, asks if Jake’s replacement for State Farm is Drake.

“That’s right, State Farm Drake,” he says with a straight face.

Drake and the spokesman stand next to each other in their red shirts and begin to recite the brand’s slogan, but State Farm’s Jake stops him halfway.

“Hey, the substitutes don’t have lines,” he informs the Hotline Bling rapper, who chews on an apple while saying the catchphrase.

Although Drake is best known for his music career now, he gained prominence in the Canadian high school series Degrassi, where he played Jimmy Brooks.

His character was initially a basketball star before he was paralyzed by a shot at school.

Sunday’s announcement in the game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs was aired shortly after Rodgers revealed that he had become engaged.

On Saturday, when he accepted the 2020 NFL Most Valuable Player award through a speech on YouTube, he briefly mentioned the engagement and thanked his ‘bride’, which he did not mention.

However, E! News reported a few days before the football star was in a relationship with Shailene Woodley, 29, of the Big Little Lies.

Although he did not mention the actress in his acceptance speech, he thanked Jodie Foster, who stars with Woodley in his next film, The Mauritanian.

“They kept things private and discreet,” said a source, adding that the couple’s relationship has been ‘long distance’.
