Dr. Mehmet Oz begins his controversy Danger! limit it tonight, and if Monday’s teaser is any indication, social media will not be a warm place for the media personality.
It was revealed in February that Oz, who rose to fame as a health specialist in The Oprah Winfrey Show, was added to the list of invited hosts after the death of Alex Trebek. The announcement was immediately met with criticism from fans and former contestants due to the doctor’s divisive nature, with many pointing out his history of selling “unfounded” and “wrong” medical advice on television. That narrative resurfaced on Monday after the official Danger! account tweeted a preview of Oz’s monologue.
“It is an honor to be a guest host,” begins Oz. “I was lucky to befriend Alex and visit him and this show whenever I could. One of my favorite memories was of Alex showing me with immense pride, a room full of letters of support and love for him from you, the fans . “
This love was not reciprocated in the direction of Oz. The clip has been viewed over a million times with Danger! fans upset with The Dr. Oz Show host’s involvement in a game show about, you know, facts.
Oz was labeled a “snake oil salesman,” a term that has followed him since being questioned on Capitol Hill in 2014 for selling “magic weight loss” cures on his show. (“Actually, I personally believe in the items I talk about in the program. I study them passionately. I recognize that they often do not have the scientific summons to present as facts,” Oz said to members of a Senate panel at one point. )
Any competitor who poses as their last risky question, answer “Why is Jeopardy being hosted by a snake oil seller?” will get my eternal respect

Dr. Oz, a verified snake oil seller, having just a second at this location is a disgrace to Alex and his legacy.

Dr. Oz is a charlatan – a snake oil salesman, quite simply. It puts people in danger and profits from putting people in danger. For @Danger allowing it to host is for Jeopardy to host a parasite. Boycott Dr. Oz episodes. #Danger #Doctor Oz #TV

Many legalists saw the Oz show as a “disgrace” to Trebek’s legacy and asked viewers to boycott the show for two weeks.
I think @Danger just want to dishonor the legacy of Alex Trebek, there is no reason to bring the “Dr.” Oz in a host.

You dishonor Trebek by leaving “Dr.” Host of Oz. Absolutely shameful

You don’t even need to mention Dr. Oz’s passages on Fox News re: Covid. For years before that, he promoted healing by faith, psychic mediums and homeopathic quackery. @Danger it is a show firmly based on facts. It’s a shame for Alex to have that crazy hypocrite presenting the program.

Having Dr. Oz on the show is a shame for Alex Trebek.

Yes, overall the feedback was not positive.
Speaking like a Jeopardy fan who was hit by a car while crossing a street, I couldn’t agree more.

I hear this after each episode of Dr. Oz’s @Danger for the next 2 weeks, there will be a rebuttal show with experts from the CDC, FTC, FDA, AMA, Red Cross, et al.

I will never forgive Oprah for Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz
– Trey (@treydayway) March 22, 2021
Dr. Oz spreads dangerous medical information for profit.

Oz did not respond to the most recent criticism.
