Dr. Mehmet Oz saves a person’s life at the airport, performs CPR

Dr. Mehmet Oz is a hero once again.

The 60-year-old cardiothoracic surgeon and talk show host helped save the life of a 60-year-old man who passed out at Newark Liberty International Airport, Fox News confirms.

On Monday night, Dr. Oz and the man were in the baggage claim when the man passed out.

“Last night, a man passed out near me and my family after we arrived at Newark airport. I underwent cardiopulmonary resuscitation with the help of a Newark Port Authority police officer and cleared the man’s airways,” he told Fox News in a statement. “Fortunately, Newark Airport had a nearby defibrillator that we were able to use to save his life.”

“As a doctor and a human being, it is our responsibility to intervene when there is a medical emergency. Another critical reminder of how important it is to learn how to do CPR and use a defibrillator. You can save a life,” he continued.

According to ABC7 in New York, the Port Authority Police said that Officer Jeffrey Croissant was also on the scene and ran to the man.

Officer Croissant said the man had no pulse, so he called for backup and started CPR. That was when Dr. Oz, who was traveling with his wife and daughter back from Florida, saw the situation and ran to help.

The man was supposedly foaming at the mouth and was bleeding from having hit his head in the fall. Dr. Oz and the authorities present resuscitated the man using a defibrillator.

This is not the first time that Dr. Oz has helped a needy stranger. In 2013, he helped a man who passed out during a marathon in Salt Lake City, Utah.
