Dr. Laura Berman’s son Samuel died at the age of 16 from an overdose

Dr. Laura Berman’s 16-year-old son, Samuel, tragically died of a drug overdose.

The “shattered” relationship therapist revealed the touching news via Instagram, saying that Samuel had overdosed on Xanax with fentanyl.

“My beautiful boy is gone. 16 years. Shelter at home. A drug dealer connected to him on Snapchat and gave him fentinyl [sic] he tied Xanax and he overdosed in his room, ”she wrote next to a photo of her and her son. “My heart is completely broken and I’m not sure how to keep breathing.”

The host of the podcast “Language of Love” shared her tragedy “so that a child will no longer die”. The therapist said her son was an A-grade student “getting ready for college”.

“The experimentation went wrong. He made sure the drugs were delivered at home, ”she continued. “Please take care of your children and SEE SNAPCHAT especially. That’s how they get it. “

In his Instagram story, Berman again shared a post asking parents to get their kids out of Snapchat.

“Our deepest condolences go out to Samuel Berman Chapman’s family and friends and we are heartbroken by his death,” a Snap spokesman told Page Six in a statement on Monday.

“We are committed to working together with the authorities in this case and in all instances where Snapchat is used for illegal purposes. We have zero tolerance for using Snapchat to buy or sell illegal drugs, ”the statement continued, noting that using Snapchat for“ illegal purposes ”runs counter to the company’s community guidelines.

“We are constantly improving our technological capabilities to detect drug-related activities so that we can intervene proactively. … We have no higher priority than keeping Snapchat a safe environment and we will continue to invest in protecting our community. “

After the news, Berman fans and Samuel’s classmates filled her with support.

“I am a Milken student who was in Sam’s two classes and I can tell you personally that he was a king [sic] soul, ”commented a friend. “I’m sorry for the loss of you and your family. Sam didn’t deserve to die anytime soon. I am sending my love and prayers. ❤️ May he rest in peace [sic]. “
