As we approach a full year of a pandemic here in the United States, optimism can be found in the continued release of vaccines, although none of this is moving fast enough to bring complete peace of mind.
In an interview with Savannah Guthrie about Today which aired Thursday morning, Dr. Anthony Fauci – director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases – shared his latest predictions about when the general public (ie those who are not part of high-profile groups) can expect to start being vaccinated.
“When we get to April, this will be what I would call the hunting season,” said Dr. Anthony Fauci of the vaccination availability schedule for all groups to start taking vaccines. pic.twitter.com/BMGD3YSVex

“We have these priorities [groups]—1a, 1b, 1c, ”said Dr. Fauci. “If you look at the projection, I imagine that when we get to April, that’s what I’d call [lack of] better wording ‘public bidding’. That is, virtually anyone and everyone in any category can start getting vaccinated. From then on, it would probably take several more months just logistically to put vaccines in people’s arms, so that, with luck – when we arrive in the middle and at the end of the summer – we could have reached the goal of what we are talking about. That is, the vast majority of people in this country have been vaccinated. “
Earlier this week, the CDC – following Dr. Fauci’s public advice on the benefits of the double mask – shared a study pointing to the importance of ensuring that the person fits perfectly on the face when it comes to limiting the spread of the virus that cause COVID-19.
In laboratory tests, exposure to potentially infectious aerosols decreased by about 95 percent with the use of tight-fitting masks. The two examples of “tight fit” given were the use of a tissue mask over a medical procedure mask, as well as the use of a medical procedure mask with looped ear loops and inward sides.
