Dr. Bennie L. Harris appointed Chancellor of the University of South Carolina in the interior of the state


Dr. Bennie L. Harris has been appointed the next dean of the University of South Carolina in the state (USC in the state).

Harris is currently senior vice president of Institutional Advancement at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) and an assistant professor in the Department of Community Health and Preventive Medicine. He was previously Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations at Lipscomb University.

He is a member of the Development Council of the Association of American Medical Schools (AAMC) and serves on the Lipscomb Board of Trustees.

At Morehouse, Harris was instrumental in developing the school’s Leadership Academy faculty and staff and increased fundraising to $ 112 million. At Lipscomb, he led fundraising, increasing 332% in four years, rising to $ 32,238,899 in fiscal 2012 from $ 9,716,139 in fiscal 2009.

Harris holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Mississippi State University, an MBA from Washington State University and a Ph.D. in educational leadership from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
