In response to ESPN’s report that Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie can still make a change of coach, PFT asked the Eagles to respond. The Eagles declined to comment.

So it went to Plan B. And Plan B consisted of ensuring unofficial confirmation from sources aware of the situation that the report that Eagles coach Doug Pederson is still in trouble is accurate.

As one source said, the conversations between Lurie and Pederson are “in progress” and they will meet again to continue the conversation. Lurie wants to have confidence in Pederson’s vision for the team’s future.

So yes, Lurie may still decide that she doesn’t like Pederson’s vision for the franchise. And if Lurie doesn’t like Pederson’s vision enough, the coach who has achieved a 46-39-1 record in five seasons, won a Super Bowl to crown the 2017 season and led the team to three consecutive games in the playoffs of 2017 to 2019 could be out.

Pederson would probably prefer that, whatever the decision, be made quickly. While it is unclear whether he immediately became a candidate for a job elsewhere, there are not many Super Bowl winning coaches of the past decade available to hire.
