Doug Pederson said he hopes to remain the Eagles’ coach in 2021 and reiterated that position on Friday. But when it comes to defenders, Philadelphia probably has more questions than it answers.
Pederson replaced Carson Wentz in Week 13 and rookie Jalen Hurts started the last three games. That decision spurred Philadelphia’s attack, but it doesn’t mean that Hurts is even marked as QB1 for next year.
“I have a lot of confidence in Carson Wentz and always has been, ”said Pederson, through Dave Zangaro of NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com. “Our off-season will be geared towards fixing things as defenders and, obviously, as a team. And it falls on my shoulders. That will be our motivation in the off-season. “
Although he hasn’t played in three weeks, Carson Wentz is still tied at the top of the championship with 15 interceptions. He completed a career drop of 57.4 percent from his passes this year to 2,620 yards with 16 touchdowns.
Hurts has a 54.7 percent completion rate with 989 yards, six touchdowns and three choices. He also ran for 320 yards and a touchdown.
Whatever the Eagles decide to do as a defender, it must be intriguing to follow during the 2021 offseason.
