How COVID-19 vaccination efforts continue across the US, Krispy Kreme announced a sweet incentive to help boost vaccinations: free donuts.
On Monday, the donut maker unveiled a new promotion offering a free Original Glazed donut to “anyone who shows their COVID-19 vaccination registration card” at “participating locations in the United States”. The promotion starts on Monday and runs through December 31. It will allow “one guest per day redemption” so you can, in theory, win a free donut every day for the rest of the year.
How do you get a Krispy Kreme donut a day if you get vaccinated?
To qualify, you will need to present your COVID-19 vaccination card. You will need to show that you have received at least one of the two injections of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines or the Johnson & Johnson single injection vaccine.
Using the “I’m vaccinated” sticker doesn’t count. The company adds on its website that employees will not document or take pictures of their vaccination card, as it “contains personal information”.
You will need to enter a Krispy Kreme or drive-thru store to close the deal, with the company noting that it is not making free donuts available to those who place orders online or through delivery apps.
You can still get a Krispy Kreme donut for free, even if you don’t get the vaccine
Those who decide not to get the vaccine can also get free donuts, although Krispy Kreme’s offer there is a little more limited.
“We understand that the choice to receive the COVID-19 vaccine is a highly personal decision,” said the company on its website. He adds that if you decide not to get the vaccine, you can still get an Original Glazed donut and a medium coffee on Mondays for free, “to start your week off right.”
The offer for non-vaccinated people starts on March 29 and runs from Monday to May 24.
