Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge will give “Mr. and Mrs. Smith ”for New Regency and Amazon Prime Video. The series, which is based on the 2005 hit film New Regency, will be released in 2022.
Glover and Waller-Bridge will star and produce series executives,
made the announcement on social media, posting a video on Instagram Stories with details of the project. Amazon Studios director Jennifer Salke also posted news of the new program on her Twitter account on Friday.

The new approach to “Mr and Mrs. Smith” is neither Glover nor Waller-Bridge’s first studio project. Waller-Bridge created and starred in the hit series “Fleabag”, which collected six Emmys, including Outstanding Comedy Series in 2019, while Glover’s musical film “Guava Island” is also an Amazon Original.
The series was co-created with Francesca Sloane, who will act as a showrunner, and has her own general business at Amazon Studios. Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer of New Regency and Jenny Robins of Wells Street Films will serve as executive producers.

Doug Liman’s 2005 film, starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, was a huge success, grossing nearly $ 500 million worldwide. Alfred Hitchcock also directed a crazy wedding comedy entitled “Mr. & Mrs. Smith ”in 1941, starring Robert Montgomery and Carole Lombard.
Glover and Waller-Bridge starred as Lando Calrissian and the android L3-37 in 2018’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story”, exhibiting remarkable natural chemistry and comic relief for the high-flying space adventure. And ever since, the Emmy-winning creators of “Atlanta” and “Fleabag” have publicly supported each other’s careers. In 2019, Glover shared his admiration for presenting Waller-Bridge as British Artist of the Year at the British Academy Britannia Awards.
