Dominique Crowder is ready to take the next step towards being a legitimate 126 pound potential customer.
He is due to pass Marlin Sims tonight at the Crown Reef Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The six-round bout will be broadcast live on BXNG TV ($ 14.99, 6pm ET / 3pm PT), which is a channel of the Vyre Streaming platform.
Crowder-Sims is a showdown between undefeated featherweights, where the winner will take a decent step in a competitive division.
Crowder (7-0, 6 knockouts), who lives in Baltimore, Maryland, stopped newsman Daniel Coronel in the fifth round of his last fight on November 6. The fight came exactly two months after Crowder knocked out Michael Gaxiola in round 4.
Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Crowder, 27, fought four times in 2020. He is managed by Adam Glenn, CEO of Times Square Boxing.
“Dominique is facing a real next step in the classroom, facing another unbeaten possibility in Sims,” Glenn told Boxingscene on Thursday night. “With Dominique’s amateur experience, talent and experience in the ring, we thought he was ready to face this type of challenge. After winning on Saturday, he will move on to the eighth round and we will just try to keep pace with good and tough fights that show how great a prospect he is ”.
Sims (8-0, 4 KOs), who reside in Minneapolis, Minnesota, fought for the last time on March 13, defeating Kendrick Latchman by majority decision. The 28-year-old has yet to face a fighter with a winning record.
Another fighter commanded by Glenn will also fight on tonight’s card.
Junior undefeated welterweight Steven Galeano (5-0, 4 KOs) from the Bronx, New York will face Rydell Griffin of Las Vegas (8-44-2, 2 KOs) in a six-round bout.
Also fighting on Christy Martin’s promotions card will be Shinard Bunch (11-1 1 NC, 10 KOs), who knocked out Dieumerci Nzau just two weeks ago. Bunch, who lives in Trenton, New Jersey, will face Charles Dubray (3-4, 3 KOs) from Hastings, Nebraska in a six-round match.
Roney Hines undefeated heavyweight (9-0, 6 KOs) will face Dell Long (7-7-2, 4 KOs) from West Virginia in a six round fight. Hines is originally from Cleveland, Ohio, and now lives and trains in the Los Angeles area.
