Domingo Germán’s return puts the Yankees’ teammates in a difficult position – The Athletic

In baseball, there is usually a culture of keeping your head down and your mouth shut. Players prefer to keep their interpersonal dramas within the confines of the clubhouse whenever possible. So it was a rare exception when the Yankees’ reliever, Zack Britton, answered a question about his teammate, Domingo Germán, with something other than a simple detour.

“Sometimes you can’t control who your teammates are,” said Britton. “This is the situation.”

Britton is an MLBPA representative for the team and one of the few remaining pitchers on the 2019 Yankees team.

Germán is back this spring, after almost 18 months away from the MLB, after a 81-game suspension under the league’s domestic violence policy. He played 18 games at the end of the 2019 season, then lost the entire shortened 2020 season while playing his remaining 63 games …
