Dolphins interviewing Matt Canada of Steelers for work at OC

If Matt Canada is not the next offensive coordinator in Pittsburgh, he could have the job elsewhere. The Miami Dolphins are said to interview him for his vacant OC job, according to several reports.

Canada was hired before the 2020 season to coach Steelers defenders. It is his first job in the NFL after several stints as a college offensive coordinator at Pitt, LSU, NC State and Maryland.

Canada’s influence in the Pittsburgh attack was evident. His movement rate soared to the top ten and his training appeared to have a positive impact on Mason Rudolph, who improved from his only start in 2020.

Pairing Canada with Tua Tagovailoa would be a logical move for the organization. On Thursday, the Steelers announced that they had been separating from OC Randy Fichtner, who has been in this role since 2018. Canada must be in the mix to replace Fichtner, although it is also possible that the team will hire an outside employee.
