“I’m still celebrating.”

“I put on my Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving,” said Parton. “I celebrate Christmas and Thanksgiving until my birthday, on January 19th.”

“I always make them leave my decorations on until after my birthday, because I’m still celebrating.”

Parton also told what she and her family prepare for Christmas dinner: We do all the traditional things, like everyone else. The turkey and the sauce. “

“Sometimes we just roast big, fat chickens instead of turkeys, but we make all the hams and fillings, the mashed potatoes and the pumpkin and sweet potato pies.”
And Parton still makes chicken and dumplings, following family tradition. “My family loves it,” she said. “Mom made cookies for Christmas, so I still do that, in addition to everything else.”
