DOJ asks Trump era prosecutors to step down

The Justice Department will ask U.S. prosecutors appointed by former President Donald Trump to resign, according to a senior department official.

The federal prosecutor who oversees the federal tax investigation involving Hunter Biden, however, was asked to remain in office.

U.S. Attorney John Durham, who has been appointed special attorney to investigate the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation, will also remain in his post.

Durham, however, is expected to resign his other position as a United States attorney in Connecticut.

The US prosecutor’s transition process is common among administrations.

It is expected to take several weeks for the few dozen remaining Trump-era nominees to come out and be replaced by nominees for President Joe Biden.

Several American prosecutors chosen by Trump have already stepped down.
