Doctor Who special includes reference to fan favorite character

Doctor Who: Daleks Revolution spoilers to follow.

Doctor who fans were heartbroken by the departure of two characters during the festive special, but it was not the only thing that made viewers cry in their Christmas pudding.

After being arrested for 10 months, The Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) met with Ryan Sinclair (Tosin Cole), Graham O’Brien (Bradley Walsh) and Yaz Khan (Mandip Gill), as well as old friend Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) to defeat an army of Daleks.

During a private moment of conversation with the gang, Captain Jack mentioned one of the favorite fandom characters he misses most – Rose Tyler.

Rose was a companion to the Ninth and Tenth Doctors – Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant – but is now trapped in an alternate universe.

Talking about a previous battle with the Daleks who saw him killed and Rose revive him, Jack said, “I can be killed, but I come back to life very quickly. [the Doctor’s] fault, partly a friend of hers on Earth named Rose.

“But she is trapped in a parallel universe now.”

The fans went to Twitter to talk about Jack mentioning the character, and it was very exciting:

After Ryan and Graham left, it was announced that actor and comedian John Bishop would join the cast as new companion Dan.

Bishop called by joining Doctor who “an absolute dream”.

He said: “If I could have told my younger self that one day I would be called on board the TARDIS, I would never have believed it. It is an absolute dream that came true when I joined Doctor who and I couldn’t ask for better company than Jodie and Mandip. “
