SANTO ANTÓNIO – COVID-19 vaccine markings available in the San Antonio area are getting crowded, meaning that many will receive their first dose soon. But what can you expect after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are offering some guidance to patients before they go to a place of administration.
After receiving the vaccine, you will likely experience flu-like side effects, which can affect your ability to perform some daily activities, says the CDC.
According to the CDC, the most common side effects after the vaccine is administered include pain and swelling in the arm where the vaccine was administered and fever, chills, headaches and tiredness throughout the body.
The CDC instructs patients to call their doctor if they experience increased redness or tenderness at the injection site or if the common side effects do not go away after a few days.
Patients should remember that they must receive a second dose of the vaccine to achieve its full effect, says the CDC.
