DJI’s future first-person drone appears in an unboxing video

The DJI’s first-person view drone has yet to be announced, but that doesn’t stop enthusiasts from having time to work. The Verge reports that Dominion Drones briefly shared a video (reposted by SpiderMonkey FPV) where he unpacked the “Combo FPV” and detailed some of his improvements.

Dominion did not pilot the drone to test its maximum speed of 93 MPH. However, the clip shows the first-person camera at the top, as well as additional forward and downward sensors that are likely to help avoid obstacles. There’s an updated controller, more like a gamepad, with sculpted cuffs, and the new racing goggles are supposedly lighter than their 2019 ancestors. The FPV drone is clearly aimed at pilots, as well as fans of first-person cinematic footage .

There are rumors that DJI will deliver the drone in March. The biggest issue may revolve around availability. Although DJI has stated that it will continue to sell drones, despite the ban on trade in the United States, this FPV model may represent a test of that claim. Don’t be surprised if there are hindrances to DJI’s plans, at least for American drone buyers.
