Disney’s Cruella Trailer surprises with first day view count

Disney’s Cruella trailer, starring Emma Stone, had an impressive 71 million views in the first 24 hours after its release.

The trailer for the next Disney movie, Cruella, reached an important visualization milestone.

The teaser for the film starring Emma Stone drew 71 million views in 24 hours after its release, according to Deadline. In doing so, the Cruella trailer exceeded the viewing numbers of the previous 24-hour trailer Maleficent: Lady of Evil (61.7 million) and the success of Will Smith-Guy Ritchie Aladdin (60.8 million), both launched before COVID-19.

Despite attracting massive visions, the Cruella trailer was still short of the 224 million global views achieved in the first 24 hours after Disney’s launch The Lion King, which came out on Thanksgiving Day 2018. The Disney live action remake trailer Mulan also reached an impressive 175 million views on the first day when it was posted in July 2019.

It’s also worth noting that the Disney Super Bowl trailer for its streaming series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier received 125 million views in the first 24 hours, setting a record for any streaming series.

THE Cruella The trailer reigned supreme, however, with regard to the amount of social conversation surrounding the film after the premiere of its first trailer. Specifically, Cruella received 265,0000 mentions on social media within 24 hours of launching the trailer, surpassing online mentions of both Disney live-action films Aladdin (228,000) and Beautiful and the Beast (154,000).

Following the Cruella launch of the trailer, PETA requested in an official statement that Disney and the film promote the adoption of pets while promoting the 101 Dalmatians prequela.

“No character highlights the cruelty of wearing fur or skinning dogs better than Cruella, but PETA’s praise will be on its feet until Disney takes steps to prevent a 1996 repeat, when animal shelters were flooded with allegedly bought and discarded dalmatians. by 101 Dalmatian fans who were not ready for dogs to grow up, “PETA senior vice president Lisa Lange told CBR recently. “The devil is in the details, and Cruella must remind viewers that animals are individuals – not accessories – and adopt them.”

The launch of the trailer also got fans talking about the similarities between Emma Stone’s Cruella and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, with graphic designer BossLogic even posting a Stone-as-Quinn mock-up.

In the BossLogic edition, Stone is depicted with a half red, half black hairstyle, eyeliner and matching outfits. His face also had white Quinn-style makeup, red lips, and Quinn’s typical black tattoo, Three of Diamonds. The artist added the caption for his translation: “I hear you”.

Directed by Craig Gillespie, Cruella starring Emma Stone, Emma Thompson, Paul Walter Hauser, Joel Fry and Emily Beecham. The film hits theaters on May 28.
