The large distribution point is expected to be in operation by the end of this week.
Disneyland is reopening, but not as a theme park.
Closed since last March, the Anaheim destination will host a massive POD or large distribution point COVID-19 vaccination site, Orange County and park officials announced on Monday.
“Disneyland Resort, the largest employer in the heart of Orange County, has prepared to host the county’s first Super POD location – performing a monumental task in our vaccination distribution process,” said county supervisor Andrew Do, according to ABC 7 News. “We really appreciate the support of the Orange County Fire Authority, our cities and our residents as we continue to implement COVID-19 vaccines across the county.”
The Disneyland vaccination site is expected to be in operation later this week.
“Disneyland Resort is proud to help support Orange County and the city of Anaheim with the use of our property, and we are grateful for all of their efforts to combat COVID-19. After a year in which so many in our community have faced problems without unprecedented difficulties and uncertainties, there is now reason to be optimistic about administering a vaccine, “said Dr. Pamela Hymel, Disney’s medical director, parks, experiences and products, according to ABC7.
Most of the Disneyland Resort has been closed since last March due to the pandemic. Last summer, Downtown Disney’s shopping and dining district managed to reopen. In the fall, a part of California Adventure was able to reopen.
