Both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure have remained closed since March due to the ongoing pandemic, but the good news is that recently, major theme parks located in the state of California, including Disneyland Resort and Universal Hollywood, have received some positive news from reopens, allowing them to reopen at level 2 with a limited capacity of 15%. In addition, theme parks can only host California residents, visitors from outside the state are not allowed.

Although we do not yet have an exact opening date, The Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek confirmed during the shareholder meeting that he hopes to have Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure ready by the end of April.

When the parks are reopened, some amenities, including FASTPASS, Disney MaxPass, Magic Morning and Extra Magic Hour, will be suspended as part of the phased reopening efforts in the midst of the pandemic. This is not very surprising, as it is similar to what Walt Disney World did when it reopened in July 2020.

Disneyland’s official website states:

As a result of the impact of COVID-19 on operations, the FASTPASS and Disney MaxPass services are suspended for the time being and are not available for purchase or use. We will share future updates at a later date.

The Magic Morning and Extra Magic Hour offers will be suspended after the reopening of our hotels and theme parks, as we plan to manage capacity. We will share any updates on these offers at a later date.

The site also reminds Visitors that selected attractions and certain experiences that attract large groups will return at a later date, which was previously announced, but you can read the details below as a reminder:

In addition, selected attractions and certain experiences that attract large group gatherings – such as parades and evening shows – will return at a later date. While the characters’ encounters and greetings will be temporarily unavailable, the characters will be in our parks in new ways to entertain and delight our visitors. Disneyland Resort will also have capacity measures in place, as well as limitations on parking and opening hours.

Currently, Downtown Disney District and, by extension, parts of Buena Vista Street on Disney California Adventure, are open to visitors for al fresco dining and shopping. And in just a few days, Disney California Adventure will open more of its theme park by hosting an event called A Touch of Disney.

Touch of Disney will bring visitors a selection of iconic food and drink items from Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, as well as the possibility to see Mickey and his gang from a safe social distance!
