(CNN) – Repeated visits to Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure have not been possible since the theme parks closed at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. And now, the annual park pass program is officially coming to an end.
Disney Parks announced on Wednesday that it will cancel annual passes and replace them with a new program. Eligible annual pass holders will receive prorated refunds, said the company, the amount of which can be verified here.
“Due to the continuing uncertainty of the pandemic and the limitations surrounding the reopening of our California theme parks, we will issue appropriate refunds for Disneyland Resort’s annual passports and close the current program,” said Disneyland President Ken Potrock in a statement. declaration. “We are currently developing new membership offers that will use consumer insights to offer options, flexibility and value to our biggest fans.”
It is unclear when exactly the theme parks will open and when the new program will be launched. Disney had been lobbying California Governor Gavin Newsom to allow its theme parks to reopen for much of the past year, although this was not permitted by state restrictions and coronavirus case numbers.
Disneyland reopened on Wednesday as a “super” vaccination site for Covid-19, said CNN affiliate KCAL / KCBS. Orange County officials say the site will be able to accommodate thousands of residents daily.
